Dear Europe and America: Take Your War-mongering Arrogance Away From Africa
Go focus on Ukraine or something
I watched in astonishment as my neighbor and brother country, Niger Republic, decided to get rid of their civilian president in favor of a military head. In sane situations, this would qualify as a coup right? It is a coup in the literal sense of the word, and as a result, a few countries have come together to condemn such.
When I say countries, I’m referring to the western countries, you know, the ones who love to play big brother, the so called arbiters of democracy.
In response, they urged their puppet organization, ECOWAS (economic community of west African states), to issue threats and ultimatums. Of course it has nothing to do with the drone base the US has on Niger Republic’s soil for some reason, or the cheap Uranium France has been getting from Niger, which the civilians are getting almost nothing from.
It can’t be any of that, you see, it’s because the west loves democracy and anywhere they see said democracy in jeopardy, it breaks their wittle hearts.
“Freedom freedom democracy freedom 🦅 ”
Well what about the people of Niger? Where’s their stand in all of this? Well, contrary to what you might have seen or heard, the good people of Niger were ecstatic about the new development. They welcomed their new military leadership with open arms, it was almost a unanimous, nationwide acceptance.
Now most people there have a pretty solid idea about what a military coup is, but you know their so called democratic government is so frigging dog shit when the people would rather watch it collapse into a military regime.
The next step was the military government, with full support from the civilians, issuing a directive that each and every french soldier, numbering up to 1500, had to leave. Also, an ultimatum was given by the government for any french diplomat to leave Niger soil. It was meant to be a total purge of anything that had to do with France, or at least, french influence.
You’ll think the French authorities will respect the order and vacate immediately right? I mean, if that’s what the people want then who is France to oppose right? Sovereignty belongs to the people, right?
Well, seems the french government has more sovereignty over the political affairs of Niger Republic than the people themselves. Which is why, not only did they blatantly reject the directive issued by the military government, they also urged ECOWAS to mete out sanctions against Niger republic, which includes cutting off electricity to the country through its main supplier, Nigeria.
Apart from this, they’re anxiously pushing ECOWAS into commencing military operations aimed at restoring their puppet who happened to be the former civilian president.
“Sanctions are starting to take effect. There is not enough medication, not enough food. Power outages are even more frequent than before. If we want the Nigerien military junta to weaken, we must continue with the sanctions,"
Del Re told Italian daily La Repubblica
Imagine the nerve! How dare these people? Sanctions, military operations, democracy, it’s their usual tired playbook.
For a very long time it had been itching the west to start the war already but it would look really bad to directly station western boots on the ground, so what do they do? pressure ECOWAS to start the battle so they can begin sending equipment to them, as well as place covert western troops on ground.
Does this whole set up look familiar to you? Well get this, other countries have decided to stand up for Niger republic, sending stern warnings that should any trigger be pulled, they won’t hesitate to defend their brother. To make this even more familiar, the infamous Wagner group has been invited to lend a hand, and for some reason, Russia seems to be on the side of Africa. The new leader of Niger republic needs some lessons on the importance of eating at the same table as Putin with a long spoon, but that’s story for another day.
It’s like the Russia Ukraine war all over again, only this time, all the major superpowers at the background, pulling the strings, that are involved in this will operate via proxy. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that.
The west, like vultures, have been hovering and circling around the continent, particularly Niger republic, ready to swoop in at the mere sight of a country with a decaying sociopolitical structure. It’s gotten so bad that they’re even trying to poke to death the democracies that are still struggling to remain alive, just so they can dive in to repair the situation at a typically disproportionate price.
Doubt me? Explain why France urged their diplomat living in their embassy on Niger soil to not move an inch no matter what their government says. It took thousands of angry Nigeriens protesting in front of the embassy, as well as the government cutting logistics supply to the diplomat’s house before he decided to leave.
Now on the other side of the world, we have the bloodthirsty, war loving United States, who has just been revealed to be mulling over the possibility of assassinating the current leader of Niger republic, you know, like it worked for Libya, making it one of the worst places to live in Africa.
The west has been trying to stir the pot as far as Africa is concerned. War has always been a cash cow to them, and now that they can sense it drying up because the war in Ukraine has been taking a totally different turn, they intend to bring it here where a lot of eyes won’t be on their shenanigans. The ball, however, is in Africa’s court.
